European Union Delegation in Washington, D.C. The Delegation of the European Union to the United States facilitates relations between the European Union and the United States. It is located at 2175 K Street, N.W., in the West End neighborhood of Washington, D.C.. Though technically not an embassy, the head of mission has the status of ambassador. In 1990, the Head of Delegation was accorded full ambassadorial status.[3] In 2010 it was transferred from a European Commission delegation to a European Union delegation under the foreign policy reorganisation of the Lisbon Treaty.[4] Role The ambassador and delegation coordinate national embassies and speak on behalf of the President of the European Commission, President of the European Council and the member states.
